Ash Wednesday Service 2015

ABOUT THIS SERIES

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent, the 40-day period the church observes as a time of somber reflection and repentance of sin. We join Christians all over the world as we follow the liturgy of this service. Apart from Christ’s death, we are nothing, and it is only through His death that we have life. During this service, the ceremony of ash reminds us we are sinners, dust, nothing. In both the Old and New Testaments, people repented of their sins by wearing sackcloth (burlap) and covering themselves in ashes.
